Tax Threshold & Salary Sacrifice Explorer

Tax thresholds can make the cash cost of an extra pension contribution or other eligible salary sacrifice look very different from the headline amount. This tool shows the annualised before-and-after model rather than promising tax savings.

How this calculator works

The tool reuses Budget Wizard's dated UK payroll configuration. It compares estimated take-home pay before and after an additional salary-sacrifice amount and shows the change in Income Tax, employee NI and the selected student-loan deduction.

How to use it

  1. Enter salary, bonus and tax region.
  2. Add your current salary-sacrifice amount.
  3. Enter an additional amount you are considering.
  4. Select the student-loan plan if relevant.
  5. Check the dated ruleset and verify any real arrangement with payroll, pension and tax information.

Assumptions and limitations

This is an annualised estimate. Real payroll runs by pay period and complex tax codes, benefits, annual allowance rules, National Minimum Wage constraints and pension limits are not fully modelled.
